Importance of Peachtree Error Messages
While most users seem quite unconcerned about the occasional error messages they encounter with their Peachtree accounting software, Peachtree error messages should not be ignored. In fact, they should be taken quite seriously.
Many people are so used to receiving errors from various software programs and Windows itself, that they've become "numb" to error messages - not phased by them like they once might have been. How about you? Have you gotten into the habit of automatically ignoring those error messages that pop up from time to time?
How often have you received the Windows XP message: "...
application file has encountered a problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.... Please tell Microsoft about this problem..."? So you cancel the message and restart the program. No big deal - right?
Or perhaps, like so many users of Peachtree, you are a veteran of the One-Write Plus program; which is especially prone to error messages - most of which aren't especially serious. Many Peachtree users ran One-Write Plus for years, receiving a steady stream of error messages all the while. Because it was often difficult to find what caused the errors and many times it seemed impossible to prevent them from reoccurring, OWP error messages were often ignored.
Unlike One-Write Plus,
Windows XP,
and many other applications, you should expect to receive few error messages from Peachtree. Also, in the rare case where one or more Peachtree error messages are encountered, you should expect it to be a fairly straight forward process to identify the problem causing the message(s).
When Peachtree error messages are displayed, each one should be considered as an important comment on the health of your Peachtree accounting software or the computer system it runs on - not something to be carelessly brushed aside.
