Peachtree 2007 and 2008 Run in Multiple Windows
The new 2007 and 2008 versions of Peachtree are different from prior versions in that each function selected in Peachtree opens in a different window, acting in some ways as if it were a different program. Suppose, for example, you open Maintain Customers, Maintain Vendors, and Maintain Employees. Now if you look at your Windows task bar, it will look like you have 3 separate Peachtree programs running - but Peachtree itself is actually only running once, it's just that the various functions of Peachtree appear to be different Peachtree programs.
There are a couple of things about this. First, be sure not to have too many of these windows going at one time because it may slow down or even lock up your computer. If you aren't careful, you can end up with as many as 9 or more Peachtree windows open at the same time. This is more than most computers can easily handle. Generally, you'll want close some of these various windows when you get more than 5 or 6 that are open.
On a related note, I recently spoke with someone who had opened one of the Peachtree windows and they saw the Peachtree window they wanted on the task bar, but when they clicked into it, they could not access the screen. Closing and reopening Peachtree did not solve this problem. The solution was to right-click on window as it was listed in the task bar and choose Maximize. Suddenly the missing window appeared and was able to be used.
